Four decades in Phoenix
The Phillips & Lyon story.
Phillips & Lyon spent nearly forty years representing injured people in Arizona. Here is the firm's history — and what former clients should know today.
-
1977
Phillips & Lyon founded in Phoenix
Gregory J. Lyon co-founds Phillips & Lyon in Phoenix, Arizona, as a personal injury practice representing accident victims. The firm would keep that focus for its entire four-decade run — "Helping the seriously injured since 1977," as its own homepage put it.
-
1980s–2000s
Growth across central and northern Arizona
The firm grows to eight Arizona locations — Central Phoenix, North Valley, Glendale/Peoria, Mesa, West Valley, Avondale, Kingman, and Bullhead City — serving accident victims across Maricopa and Mohave Counties, with every case supervised by a senior attorney and handled on a no-recovery, no-fee basis.
-
2000s–2016
A focused injury practice
Phillips & Lyon concentrates on car, truck, motorcycle, pedestrian, and bicycle accidents, slip and falls, defective products, insurance disputes, and wrongful death claims — free claim reviews, contingency fees, and a published record of results for Arizona accident victims.
-
December 2016
The firm reorganizes
Phillips & Lyon reorganizes, and the Phillips & Lyon name is later retired. Greg Lyon would eventually retire from practice; Jack Hirsch, who had been Of Counsel at Phillips & Lyon, continued practicing personal injury law in Phoenix.

Today
Where former clients can turn
Hirsch Talcott — the Phoenix personal injury and family law firm of Jack Hirsch and Chelsie Talcott — welcomes former Phillips & Lyon clients with questions about a legal matter, from its office at 1212 E Osborn Rd #200 in Phoenix.
Founding partner
Gregory J. Lyon — now retired.
Greg Lyon was a founding member and senior partner of Phillips & Lyon, and for more than three decades he limited his practice to one side of the courtroom: injured people. He earned his J.D. from Loyola University Chicago School of Law in 1974 and was admitted in all Arizona courts, including the Supreme Court of Arizona, the U.S. District Court for the District of Arizona, and the Supreme Court of the United States.
An avid rider who logged thousands of miles a year, he had a particular reputation in motorcycle-accident work — he wrote on motorcycle safety, served as an officer of a local Harley Owners Group chapter, and was a vocal advocate for riders' equal right to Arizona's roads. He is now retired.
